The second Cross Country of the new season was held on Sunday at Dunton Technical Centre. The weather on the day was kind, but the runners had to endure lots of mud throughout the 4.5 mile course.

Kevin Wotton led the Barking men home again, in a time of 30:18. Martin Page put in an impressive performance finishing second in 31:57, whilst Bradley Brown struggled a little and could only claim third in 32:24. Joe Monk was next for the men in a great time of 32:42, and Kieron Chapman finished fifth in 33:30. Dervish Bartlett and Gareth Tucker rounded off the point scoring team in respective times of 34:08 and 35:47.

Other runners included Barry Culling and Paul Pickford who had a dramatic sprint finish with Barry just pipping Paul to the line in 38:11 and 38:14. Danny White was next in 39:41. Graham Corrick stopped the clock in 43:11. Dennis Spencer-Perkins was a minute faster than Richard Ash, who crossed the line in 47:33 and 48:34. Micky Ball, who turned 70 recently, ran the course in 51:21 and Rob Courtier, club chairman, rounded off proceedings in 55:55.

In a depleted women's race, Faye Spooner was the first Barking lady to finish. She ran a time of 39:17. Sue Colvill was second in 43:10. Due to a lot of injuries within the club there were no further participants.

The next Cross Country will be held on Sunday 13 January at Thorndon.
